Former Wizz deputy chief to lead Canadian budget carrier Flair
Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines has named former Wizz Air deputy chief executive Stephen Jones to lead the company.
He will replace Flair’s outgoing president and chief executive Jim Scott, who will remain a shareholder of the airline.
Jones was formerly strategy, networks and alliance chief at Star Alliance carrier AIr New Zealand, before joining Wizz Air as deputy chief in 2017. He left the fast-growing European low-cost carrier in June this year for personal reasons.
A spokesperson for the Flair board says Jones will provide, “invaluable experience in building and scaling [ultra low-cost] carriers through a relentless focus on cost ” and will “accelerate” Flair’s mission to develop its low-cost model in Canada.
The Canadian charter specialist, which operates Boeing 737 aircraft, re-invented itself as a low-cost operator in 2018.
